Tommy Jeffers, IFPA Pro Bodybuilder

Tommy Jeffers, IFPA Pro Natural BodybuilderToday, hosts John Hansen and Mike Newmann welcome IFPA Pro Bodybuilder Tommy Jeffers. Tommy has just come off an eye-opening, intense 7-month session working with Trainer and fellow natural bodybuilder Lane Norton, preparing for his next big tournament. He can't help but want to place well above his mentor who will be competing alongside him.

What lessons did he learn from his time with Lane Norton? He knew he had some fat to lose, but was he really holding on to that much? How did he avoid cannibalism? How did he change his diet and workout during that tough 7-month stretch? Listen to the interview and your eyes will probably be opened, too!

Check out more about tommy…

To briefly introduce myself, my name is Tommy Jeffers and I'm from a medium sized town in the Midwest. I was a multi-sport athlete all my life and had a short run as a professional baseball player in the minor leagues. When my career ended in 2003, I picked up bodybuilding and was fortunate enough to win the first 2 competitions I entered the next year. I've been hooked ever since. I've spent the last several years doing extensive research on my own in biochemistry and physiology since my area of study in college was in something completely unrelated to bodybuilding. I'm 100% steroid-free, and only compete in drug-tested shows. I take this very serious and have decided that this is what I want to do with my life.

When I Started:

How I Started:
I started bodybuilding as soon as I finished my short run at professional baseball. Once I decided not to play anymore, I entered my first competition and have been competing ever since.
Why I Love It:
I love the way bodybuilding makes me feel like I am accomplishing something. It's exciting to see your body change for the better, to watch PRs go up, and see your condition improve with each competition.
How I Stay Motivated:
Motivation is never a problem for me. Even when there are times that I don't feel like working out, all I have to do is throw in Pumping Iron and I'm ready to go!
BB Accomplishments:
I was able to win "Mr. ISU" and "Mr. Wabash Valley" which were local competitions where I'm from. That's what started my bodybuilding career. Recently, I won the 2007 OCB Overall Mr. Natural Indiana, and the 2007 OCB Overall Midwest Stated to receive my IFPA pro card!

Favorite Bodypart to train: LEGS!

Training Philosophy: Your brother is getting married on leg day…that's what video cameras are for.  On a more serious side, I look at training like this: What God has blessed me with and given me to work with is a gift FROM God.  What I choose to do with it and I how I choose to diet and train is a gift to God.

I've just placed 1st overall at my first pro qualifier ~ The 2007 OCB Midwest States ~ and received my IFPA pro card! I am now more determined than ever, and I am taking all of 2008 to bring up my weaker areas to bring an even better package to the pro stage in 2009! My goal is to dial it in to place top 3 in my professional debut.
