Here’s Jon’s words from his website, JonHarris.com:

It all started at about the age of 12. As a kid I was always driven by a desire to become as big and strong as I could. I lifted weights right throughout my teenage years and entered my first bodybuilding contest at 17 years of age – which I won. Later that year in 1992, I went on to take my first British title as a natural bodybuilder, the EFBB junior under 18 Mr Britain. In ‘94 I captured the EFBB junior under 21 title. I was then selected to compete in the IFBB world junior championships in Turkey. I didn’t place in that event but it was an honour to compete in an international show and represent Britain at the age of 19.

After this I took several years off to concentrate on my studies and career. In 2001 I made a comeback and entered the BNBF open, winning the middleweights but losing out on the overall. In 2002 I finished second in my class, and in 2003 after 3 attempts I finally took my class and the British amateur overall title, qualifying me as a professional natural bodybuilder. In my debut pro show that same year (the WNBF worlds) I placed 2nd, a feat that I repeated in 2004. I took a year out in 2005 and returned the following season where I finally captured the overall pro world title, which is the highlight of my bodybuilding career to date. In 2007 I snatched 2nd again, giving me a total of 4 top-two finishes in the last 5 years at world championship level.
